A House Called Awful End, by Philip Ardagh

I really enjoy self-referential fiction. so I love how this book is always saying “We last met this character on page 37, so there’s no reason for you to remember her” or “That sentence has 94 words in it, which are 63 words too many.” It’s also really random and weird and vaguely macabre and hilarious, and is about a kid who’s parents have sent him to live with his aunt and uncle but he ends up on St. Horrid’s Home for Grateful Orphans.
